Project Overview
Designing Without a Design Team
As one of two design interns at Maqro, I worked directly with the company director in an environment with no existing design team. Together, we laid the foundation for Maqro’s new brand and digital presence.
My key responsibilities included:
• Defining the brand identity and visual guidelines
• Proposing a new website layout and information architecture
• Improving the accessibility and usability of the existing site
• Collaborating with engineers to bring Figma designs into production
🔧 Key Contributions
• Created brand guidelines: defined colours, typography, spacing, and component styles
• Planned content structure: designed new layouts and information flows
• Improved accessibility: addressed contrast, readability, and consistency issues
• Collaborated cross-functionally: partnered with the director and engineers on implementation
• Delivered in Figma: provided developer-ready UI files for efficient handoff

✨ Building From the Ground Up
This experience challenged me to define structure from scratch, translating business needs into visual design decisions without an existing design team. I learned to design collaboratively, think systematically, and advocate for accessible, scalable UI solutions while working directly with company leadership.
